Valentina Titakis’s art journey began early, when she joined her mother’s theater company in her hometown, Maldonado, Uruguay. Since then, she has explored various artistic disciplines such as writing, painting, and risograph. Her multi-fascetic journey interacts in her film photography aesthetically as well as substantially.

Titakis was born into a complex and diverse family. During her University research, she ambitiously delved into her parental family history, which is deeply defined by the civic-military dictatorship of Uruguay (1973–1985). Since then, her main artistic tropes have been memory, identity, and immigration. Merging dreamy vibes with present nostalgia, all of her creations tap into the main question of her artistic purpose: What is memory? And how do photography and film interact with it? She holds a B.A. in Communication Science and Filmmaking and is now based in Berlin.
